Thank you both for your kind comments.
I'...Hi.

Thank you both for your kind comments.

I'm currently not planning to do much with writing metadata, at least not until I'm done with the reading of metadata. While being able to write/edit metadata would be super cool and awesome, I want to take everything one step at a time. GPS tags might be an exception to that, because as you said there is the privacy implication of people uploading pictures and not realizing they're tagged. Its one thing when you need a high end camera to auto-geotag photos, but now a days your iPhone will geo-tag things, and its quite realistic that the average user would not realize this.

As for movie metadata, its not something I'm working on at the moment, but we already extract the information and store it in the db (you can get author, copyright etc from the api - [1]), we just don't display it to the user. I don't think it would be too much work for oggHandler to display the information.

I'm not sure what you mean by severside image data.

Cheers,
BawolffBawolffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02917810358934543942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7338246785946121007.post-30576188412342700102010-07-22T09:57:02.947-07:002010-07-22T09:57:02.947-07:00Very nice work bawolff, really looking forward to ...Very nice work bawolff, really looking forward to it. I was wondering if you were also considering things for writing/changing tags. Such things could be used for protecting uploader privacy for instance. "Your upload includes the coordinates of your location. We very much appreciate images with locations, but if you want them removed, please choose 'remove' ".

If enhancements like that are accounted for in the design for this work, it will probably save a lot of other people a lot of time.

Also, what about 'serverside' image data ? or movie metadata of course.TheDJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06834374324637343429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7338246785946121007.post-92211487713449555812010-07-20T18:04:27.305-07:002010-07-20T18:04:27.305-07:00Yay, metadata! You're doing a great service with this gsoc project.

I look forward to the day when MediaWiki can not only read all the image metadata, but also edit it.Sagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04259090314712198514noreply@blogger.com
